ANDREA ERSKINE-BRUNET
Andrea Erskine-Brunet, a resource teacher in a French school board in Ottawa, is passionate about everything related to teaching, learning, and supporting students. She has been teaching for over a decade and has also worked within her school board as an educational consultant specializing in students with special needs. Andrea has a broad range of knowledge and experience working with elementary students, including those with learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, and autism spectrum disorders.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology and completed an additional qualification as a Specialist in Special Education (Spécialiste en éducation de l’enfance en difficulté). Andrea is trained in applied behaviour analysis and is certified in Primitive Reflexes. She is always seeking professional growth and applies these approaches successfully in her practice.
In addition to classroom work, Andrea has offered training and professional support in schools through workshops, seminars and symposiums, sharing her expertise with educators, parents and families. Inspired by her daughter’s journey, she has developed effective strategies—including exercise integration videos—that have yielded positive results inside and outside the classroom.
Andrea uses a multisensory approach, taking into account each student’s unique needs, and shares informative posts and videos on her social media page, “Une enseignante sensory smart”.
ANDREA OFFERS
Andrea offers bilingual support (English and French) to parents who wish to better understand their child’s sensory profile and how it influences their behaviour, emotional regulation, and learning. Together, you’ll explore your child’s unique strengths and challenges to build a clear picture of their needs.
Based on this understanding, Andrea provides practical, simple, and easy-to-implement strategies to address everyday behavioural challenges, both at home and within school routines. She also guides parents in integrating simple primitive reflex exercises that can be incorporated into daily life in a realistic and manageable way.
Andrea also provides clear and understandable explanations to help both parents and children understand the “why” behind the strategies and exercises being used. This understanding fosters engagement, gives meaning to the interventions, and supports better implementation into everyday life. By connecting theory to concrete examples, families can better understand the impact of these approaches on the brain, behaviour, and learning.
When needed, Andrea can also collaborate with the child's school educational team to ensure consistency between strategies used at home and those implemented in the classroom, thereby promoting consistent support for the child.
This support includes personalized guidance, ongoing follow-ups, and adjustments based on your child’s progress. The goal is to empower parents with confidence while helping the child develop stronger emotional regulation, greater readiness to learn, and overall well-being.
